The safety lanyard is a vital component to any PWC. In fact, under United States Law it is a violation to disable the kill switch on any PWC. The lanyard is designed to shut off the engine if the rider falls off the watercraft, allowing the rider to safely reboard the watercraft and also to keep the PWC from turning around and running the rider over!
